Class Descriptions:
Energetic Flow Yoga:
Flow Yoga classes at Village Yoga are upbeat and inspiring. Playful and creative sequences
rhythmically link breath to slow and mindful movement while building strength, balance
and flexibility. Modifications and alignment cues are offered throughout allowing classes to meet the
needs of all levels of healthy yoga students.
Gentle Yoga & Gentle Flow (Beginner Friendly):
We will allow more time to warm up the body before we explore traditional yoga postures. Balance,
strengthening and core work are all part of this gentle class which is suitable for beginners and all levels of students. Gentle Flow incorporates more flowing movement on the breath. While these are gentle yoga classes, students will need to be able to get up and down from their mats to participate.
Gentle Stretch Yoga (Very Beginner Friendly):
This gentle class is perfect for the beginning student, or, for the
seasoned student or athlete who wants to experience the benefits of a sweet,
stretchy, nurturing practice. We will stretch and open the lines of the body and pay
special attention to our precious backs. Core and back strengthening postures will be
emphasized, and gentle Yin yoga postures will complete this yummy class.
Gentle MELT Yoga (Very Beginner Friendly):
This unique class combines gentle Yoga postures with the cutting- edge MELT Method®. The MELT Method® is a simple self-treatment technique that is designed to reduce pain and help you stay healthy and active for a lifetime. New research has revealed the missing link to pain-free living: a balanced nervous system and healthy connective tissue. Using specialized techniques, a soft body roller, and small balls, MELT rehydrates the connective tissue, rebalances the nervous system, and restores space to compressed joints.
Restorative Yoga (Held once or twice monthly on Sundays):
This class may have different themes monthly. Soft bolsters, blankets and blocks will be used during
mostly supine postures to help initiate deep relaxation of the body, mind and spirit. Soft music, dim
lights, gentle assists and lavender cloths add to the experience. Restorative Yoga is appropriate for
all students seeking the benefits of a very relaxing, gentle and restorative practice. Restorative Yoga
soothes your nervous system, helps you quiet your mind and invites you to release deeply held tension.
90 minutes of pure bliss! $20.00.
Chair-Assisted Yoga (Yoga for EveryBODY):
YES! Yoga is for everyone! This class is a gentle form of yoga. You will practice yoga sitting in a chair or
standing using the chair for support. Complicated maneuvers & complex movements are NOT present in this
class. The chair is used due to the difficulty many face in getting up and down off the floor.
Balance, strengthen your core and reap all of the benefits of a traditional yoga class as you learn yoga
postures & breathing techniques.
Karma Kids (5 to 12 years):
Fun and challenging yoga poses will improve strength, flexibility, and coordination. Children
will learn how to focus and center through breath-work. They will also learn self- respect and
respect for others through the practice of partner and group poses. We encourage parents to
practice with their kiddos for free! The age range is flexible, but the class will be designed
with the stated age range in mind. Class is 50 minutes.
$10.00 per class. Sibling price is just $7.00 and parents practice for free!
Yoga for Joy & Healing:
Using breathwork, gentle flow of movement, and “optional” writing, we will explore. We will look
deeply at what it means to support ourselves fully thru this Holiday Season and beyond.
For many, this time of year can be challenging due to the many and varied life circumstances that
may arise. In this setting, we will take time to de-compress, to open our bodies and minds, and to
allow “life energy” to flow, thus restoring ourselves on a multitude of levels.
